Queensbury Cougars Under 7's 0 – Shipley Juniors Under 7’s Lions 8.
This result is a fantastic score line to start off 2010 for the Lions. Once again a brilliant team effort which produced a range of scorers today.
William Pattison started in goal and kept his eye on the ball well for the rare Queensbury attack. He kicked the ball well getting it up for the strikers. Pressure by Shipley throughout both halves meant we were on the attack for a big percentage of the game. Charlie Menzies took a couple of great corner kicks in the first half as did Louis Anderson. The opener was by Harvey Weston-Beyer who nicked the ball in off a great strike by Louis Fialdini. 1 – 0. Sam Collett had a great run down the right, passing a number of defenders and he created a great chance for Shipley who just missed. Will Robinson was solid in his defending with some great tackles & running with the ball into the attack. Louis Fialdini had a couple of shots at goal one of which the keeper did extremely well to hold on to. Right before half time Shipley were awarded a penalty. Louis Anderson stepped up to the spot. 2 – 0.
Second half saw Harvey Weston-Beyer start in goal and he produced a great save when Queensbury made a rare break through the Shipley defence. Later a Queensbury corner kick was played long & went over most heads but was excellently cleared off the line by Matthew Swallow. Louis Turner showed some super skill at times. One worthy of note was a cheeky little back kick which found the foot of a Shipley player. This lead on to some scrappy play & shots at goal. It finally went in thanks to Louis Fialdini. 3 – 0. Next was a super free kick taken by Charlie Menzies which rebounded & found Sam Collett who shot it into the back of the net. 4 – 0. Now Shipley were on fire, Sam Collett had another super break which found Charlie Menzies who made it 5 – 0. Four more corners to come in this second half all taken by Charlie Menzies. One found the foot of Louis Turner 6 -0 & another found Matthew Swallow 7 – 0. To finish the game Matthew Swallow made it a double 8 – 0. Louis Turner showed off his skill with seconds to spare with a delightful dribble & narrowly missing the goal with a super stike.
Win, win, win! Bring on Horsforth Stallions.
